This month, the Girl Scouts are launching a new program, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. New books for girls and adult volunteers provide ideas for sequencing experiences, discussions, and earning awards. Activities encourage girls to take active roles in their communities; make the most of their strengths; and act with integrity and compassion.
“From the very beginning, Girl Scouts has been about developing girls’ leadership. Now we’re doing it better than ever with national, outcomes-based program activities.” says Leigh Ann Davis, CEO of Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines.
All girls ages 5-17, along with a parent/guardian, are invited to learn more about the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience at the Registration Night Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Littlefork Lutheran Church. Cost to join is $10. Scholarships are available. Adult volunteers are needed to guide girls and assist with local events. Training is provided.
Girl Scouting is the foremost authority on girls’ leadership development. To get involved in Girl Scouting or learn more about the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience, contact Joan Munt, 218-285-3403 or visit www.girlscouts.org.
