The International Falls Lions Club met May 5.
President John Roche opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dick Schaak said the table prayer. The minutes were read by Beth Reed and treasurers report by Betty Villalta.
Eye glasses were purchased for a local boy and it was noted we still have ice melt for sale.
Correspondence consisted of an offer to have our lunch wagon at the 4th Annual International Falls Bass Championship; an invitation to an open house at the Light House for the Blind; a thank you from the Minnesota Eye Bank; and an invitation to the Fort Frances Lions 44th Charter Night on May 9.
A report was given on membership night at the bowling alley. It was noted everyone had fun and we took in one new member. Dick Briese reported on the Multiple Convention in Mahnomen. It was reported excellent speakers and entertainment was featured.
Discussion was on the Fourth of July concession. A few changes will be made on our menu and the trinkets we have always sold.
Plans are already being made or discussed regarding Mid Winter Convention which we will host in 2009.
Club meetings will be conducted once a month starting in June through September.
Beth Reed won the chance to cut the deck for the joker — the joker won.
The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. May 17 at the Holiday Inn.
