Nominations open Monday for the Lake of the Woods and Koochiching County Farm Service Agency Committee election.

The northern half of Koochiching County and the eastern one third of Lake of the Woods County are up for election this year. All eligible landowners and tenants in the local administrative areas 3 and 4 may nominate someone. The last day to file nomination forms at the local FSA office is Aug. 3. To become a nominee, eligible people must sign nomination form FSA669A. The form includes a statement that the nominee agrees to serve if elected. This form is available at USDA service centers and online at www.fsa.usda.gov/elections. Only one candidate is elected in each administrative area and the following people now hold the positions: LAA-3 Lake of the Woods — Terry Waibel; LAA-4 Koochiching County — Albert Hasbargen III.
