The Koochiching County Board is expected to hold a public hearing on a road vacation requested by the Northwoods Bible Church when it meets Tuesday.
The board meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the courthouse boardroom.
The public hearing is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
The church, located in Ray, is requesting a portion of Unorganized Township Road 179 to be vacated for use by the church as a parking lot. The county has received from Ray residents several letters both in favor and against the request.
During Environmental Services Department business at 10:20 a.m., the board is expected to certify delinquent solid waste service fee bills to the auditor for collection on 2009 tax statements.
In addition, the board is scheduled to give direction on the 2009 land survey contract during Land and Forestry Department business at 10:10 a.m.
The board is scheduled to meet in a closed session at 10:30 a.m. to discuss the case Herrly v. Koochiching County, which involves a minor.
The board is scheduled to meet in committee at 1:30 p.m., when it is scheduled to review the costs involved in barge service gray water disposal for island residences.
Carl Brown submitted a letter in June requesting authorization to dump gray water into Northernaire Floating Lodge’s collection pipe at a reasonable cost. The East Koochiching Sanitary Sewer District denied the request as a result of the effluent containing sand and other solids, which was harming the collection system pipes, according to EKSSD.
Brown has requested that the EKSSD allow him to dump at Northernaire in exchange for his guarantee that the effluent be of a smooth liquid consistency.
The board is also expected to review the 2009 budget of Environmental Services at 2:10 p.m. and review the veteran service officer at 2:50 p.m.
