Alyce DeLucca, age 77, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness. At the time of her death she was living at the Imperial Grove Pavilion in Chicago, Ill.
Alyce was born Alice Nan-Marie Peterson on Dec. 23, 1930, to Martin Gustav Peterson and Florence Marie (Carnagan) Peterson. She grew up in Meadowbrook Township, in Koochiching County, near Littlefork, Minn. on her parent’s farm until she left to pursue further education in Chicago.
She attended elementary and high school in Littlefork, Minn. She attended nursing school at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago. She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from DePaul University in 1976 and continued working on her masters in gerontology post graduation from DePaul. She worked for many years at Norwegian American and St. Mary’s of Nazareth hospitals. She worked for various hospitals and home health agencies in the Chicagoland area during her career.
She is survived by her family — her daughters, Stephanie (Tom) Frohne of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Adrienne Pavlo of Los Angeles, Calif., Carla North of Toronto, Ontario Canada, and Randi (Ed) Trojan of Hoffmann Estates, Ill.; three grandchildren — Tom Frohne Jr. of Minneapolis, Kristin Frohne of Kenosha, Wis., and Martin Trojan of Hoffmann Estates; her ex-husband, Joe Pavlo, Chicago, Ill.; her aunt, Ella Peterson of Littlefork; and several cousins throughout the country — Ron (Carol) Peterson, Oxnard, Calif., Janice (Steve) Norgren, Brighton, Colo., Wayne (Sandy) Thorson, Bemidji, Minn., and Betty Dahlen, Littlefork, Minn.
Alyce donated her body for anatomical study. When the remains are cremated and returned to the family, a private ceremony will take place in Littlefork, Minn., per Alyce’s last request.
