Charles K. “Cubby” Johnson, 74, of International Falls, passed away as a result of an accident Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009.Charles was born May 15, 1935, to Ted and Mabel (Egstad) Johnson at Park River, N.D.He moved to International Falls with his bride, Josephine, on June 30, 1956 — applied at Boise Cascade July 2, 1956 — and was hired that same day; where he spent 41 years, retiring July in 1997.He farmed on Rainy River along with working for Boise.After retiring, he traveled extensively, visiting many Threshing and Antique Tractor shows, the yearly Effie Rodeo and took many trips and camping excursions with his family.He was very involved with his family; he meant the world to his daughters and grandchildren. They all thank him for the stories of his life’s experiences and his childhood.He touched many lives and made many friends along the way no matter where he traveled.Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Josephine (Jo Pesek); his daughters, Keitha (Dan) Sixberry of Side Lake, Minn., Karen Johnson of Chisholm, Minn., Teri Hoesli of International Falls, Minn., Lori (Ron) Frykas of Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada, and Sarah Homister of International Falls, Minn.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brothers, Marlow (Kay) Johnson of Roseau, Minn., and Ted (Glenda) Johnson of International Falls, Minn; his sisters, Virginia Svir of Park River, N.D., Ramona (John) Moe of Everrett, Wash., Lola Glover of International Falls, Minn., and Deidre (Jim) Shackman of Aurora, Minn.; brother-in-law, Frank G. (Doris) Pesek of Lawton, N.D.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mabel Johnson; a son-in-law, Mike Hoesli; brother, Harlan; sister-in-law, Alice Johnson; sister, Beverly Doughtery; brother-in-law, Lee Glover; and in-laws, Frank and Marie Pesek and Ed and Anna Boura.Per his request, there will be no formal services.Arrangements are with Mlaker Funeral Home, Cook, Minn. (218-666-5298).
