Garry Merritt Swenson, 54, Hibbing, Minn., formerly of Buhl, Minn., died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in his Hibbing home.

He was born in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada on March 2, 1955 to Merritt and Edna Swenson.

He graduated from Falls High School and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Garry had worked as a millwright at US Steel’s Minntac Plant.

He loved spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews.

His favorite pasttime was fishing.

He is survived by a brother, Dennis Swenson, of St. Paul, Minn.; three sisters, Judy (Dr. Joe) Spencer of Duluth, Minn., Jean (Ted) Carlson of Brainerd, Minn., and Nancy (******) LaVigne of International Falls, Minn.; seven nieces and nephews, Mike Hawkinson, David Hawkinson, Michael Kostiuk, Marissa Wolden, Katie Woods, Lacey Kostiuk, and Sarah Swenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Michael Swenson.

At Garry’s request, there will be no funeral service.
