Harold D. Hodel, 91, passed away June 24, 2009 in Arlington, Wash.
He was born to Ernst and Lillian Hodel Sept. 5, 1917, in Whapeton, N.D.
Harold graduated from Whapeton High School and after many years in International Falls, Minn., he moved to Washington State. There he owned and operated the 7-11 in Mountlake Terrace, Wash., and then the B&H Grocery in Edmonds, Wash., until his retirement in 1988.
Harold enjoyed Sunday drives, dining out, singing, music and especially sitting in the sun.
He had a heart of gold and had a good sense of humor. He could brighten the darkest day.
“Grandpa, I enjoyed the past five years that you lived your life with me. We had the best years of our life while you were with me, I will miss seeing you everyday and hearing ‘I love you’ and your big smile. My heart aches, but I know you enjoyed your life. Until we meet again I will always love you.” Your granddaughter, Debbie.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Hodel in 1997; and siblings, Robert, Valarie, Betty and Gloria.
He is survived by his son, Robert D. Hodel of Lynnwood, Wash.; daughter, Judy K. Kincaid of Bellingham, Wash.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 30, at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N. MacLeod Ave., Arlington, WA.
An entombment service will be conducted Wednesday, July 1, at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St, Shoreline, WA.
