Helen Adele Fisher Williams was born to Alma and Guy Fisher on Sept. 11, 1912. She spent her childhood in White Bear Lake, Minn., graduated from high school at 16, and attended Macalester College and St. Cloud University, earning her bachelors and masters degrees at the University of Minnesota.
On Aug. 3, 1934, Helen married Frederick Oliver Williams. They lived in International Falls, Minn. for 35 years, and upon retirement moved to Minneapolis where they lived for 20 years.
In the span of her life, Helen has been a reading specialist, taught junior and senior high school music, kindergarten, first and second grade.
In 1999, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, just four months after they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
On June 3, 2008, in Red Wing, Minn., Helen left this world to join him.
Helen’s curiosity, independence and kindness survive in her son, Guy (Judith) Williams; her grandchildren, Andrew (Roberta) Williams, Kara Williams-Zenith, Jennifer (John) Sosniecki; great-grandchildren, Tristan Williams, Shante´ Zenith; sister-in-law, Margaret Fisher; brother-in-law, Edgar Williams; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Lovin; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
Funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, with visitation at 1 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Chapel, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE, Minneapolis.
Interment will be at Sunset Cemetery.
