Helen Franny Messerschmidt, 91, of International Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Rainy Lake Medical Center.

Helen was born Aug. 25, 1918, in the Township of Highlanding, to Robert and Mary Zavoral.

She was united in marriage to George Messerschmidt on June 11, 1937.

She worked as a cook at the Chicago Café.

Helen loved her pets and flowers. She was the best bread maker.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Gordon; sisters, Betty and Mayme; and brother, Robert Jr.

Helen is survived by her sons, Rick of International Falls and Dennis of St. Paul, Minn.; daughter, Judy (Tom) Landowski of Ramsey, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and sister, Bonnie (Swen) Sjulsted of Phoenix, Ariz.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service today, Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Green-Larsen Mortuary Chapel, International Falls.

Interment will be in the Veterans of Foreign Wars section of Forest Hill Cemetery.
