Larry Lewis Long, 70

Larry Lewis Long, age 70, of International Falls, Minn., died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth., Minn.

He was born Nov. 9, 1939.

Larry was united in marriage to Kathryn Ann Pesek on June 8, 1960.

He was employed at Boise Cascade for 38 years until his retirement.

His hobbies included snowmobiling, and stock car racing, hunting, plowing snow, being in the outdoors, spending time with family out in his garage, going to casinos, and always finding something to do in his garage.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Long; mother, Irene (LeMay) Long; brothers, Charles LeMay and James Long.

Survivors include wife of 49 years, Kathryn “Katsy” Long of International Falls; daughters, Diane (Eric) Qualey of Middle River, Minn., Julie (Bruce) Englund of International Falls, and Pam (Matt) Hjelden of Cloquet, Minn.; grandchildren, RaeLynn (Jarrid) Burkel, Nicole (Justin Hanson) Holmestad, David Holmestad, Kayla Peterson, Trisha Peterson, Adrianna Beito, Heather Englund, Andrew Englund, Tyler Englund, Erik Hjelden, and Kaylee Hjelden; step grandchildren, Kayla Qualey, Lisa Qualey, Sheldon Qualey; great-grandchildren, Toby, Damion, Daizy, Shundra, BrookLynn, Bentley, Daniel, and Jaxon; brothers, Harvey Jr. (Della) Long of Kaycee, Wyo., and Duane (Karen) Long, of International Falls; sisters, Bernice Buchner of International Falls, Cecelia (Cisco) Martinez of Bullhead City, Ariz., Joyce Mann of Pillager, Minn., Elaine (Dan) Hutchinson of Marysville, Wash., Charlotte (Dave) Koehmstedt of Strathcona, Minn., and Debbie (Dan) Campbell of Miami, Fla.; and special nephew, Harvey Birch of Washington. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and will be missed by his dog, “Sheba.”

Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.

If so desired, in memoriam donations would be preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis Association or the American Heart Association.
