Larry “Skinny” Hanson, age 55, of International Falls, Minn., passed away Thursday evening, May 15, 2008 at Falls Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle against cancer.
He was born March 28, 1953 at International Falls to the late Chet and Aileen Hanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Rollie Hansen of Baudette, Minn.
Larry was united in marriage to his longtime companion, Laurie Hansen on Jan. 11, 2002 in Negril, Jamaica — a place that was very special to both of them.
He was a proud and longtime member of Laborers’ Local 1097. His special interests included golfing and socializing with his many friends. He was especially proud of his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Laurie; son, Cody (Brandy) Hanson of International Falls; grandchildren, Breanna, Haley, Krissa and Jacob.
Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Linda Hansen of Baudette; sisters, Marilyn Grinde of Littlefork, Minn., Diane (Jerry) Martin of Fort Frances and Mesa, Ariz., and JoAnne Rusch of International Falls; nieces, Becky (Todd) Janssen and Kelly Nelson, both of International Falls, and Brenda Grinde of Denver, Colo.; and nephews, Jeff (JoEllen) Butts, Derek Nelson and Brian Grinde of International Falls.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Green-Larsen Mortuary.
His many special and cherished friends will be his honorary pallbearers.
A gathering of family and friends will immediately follow the service at Hanson’s Outpost Saloon.
