Reginald Alford Emmert, 65

Reginald Alford Emmert, Littlefork, Minn., died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at his home. He was 65 years of age.
Reginald was born March 11, 1943, in Jackson, Mich., and grew up in Owosso, Mich. He graduated from Owosso High School and then went on to graduate from Michigan State University with a bachelor of science degree in forestry. He worked for the United States Forestry Service in Alaska from 1966 to 1969.
Reginald attended the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif., and then returned to Alaska and worked at the University of Fairbanks, Alaska as a cinematographer until 1985.
He then moved to Littlefork and began farming.
He was united in marriage to Mary Jo “Jan” Jankowski in Alaska in 1973.
Reginald loved to farm. He took great pride and enjoyment in managing his woodlands. He also enjoyed photography, hunting and nature and adored all that the outdoors had to offer.
He was a member of the Northern Minnesota District Fair Association, the Koochiching County Farm Bureau, and the Littlefork Gun Club.
During his time in Alaska, he was very active in the 4-H Clubs and various photography groups.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alford and Alice (Sontag) Emmert and his sister, Darlene Fisher.
Reginald is survived by his wife, Jan, of Littlefork, Minn.; sister-in-law, Lucille (Raymond) Larson of Cloquet, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Frank (Dot) Jankowski of Oronogo, Mo. and William (Leanne) Jankowski of Tower, Minn.; along with his nephews and cousins.
Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Monday, Aug. 4, at St. Columban Catholic Church, Littlefork. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
The family would prefer memorials in his memory.
Private interment will be at Dentabow Cemetery.
