William George Schrader passed away peacefully Friday, June 26, 2009, at his beloved Birchdale home surrounded by family.

He was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Ottertail County, Minn., to George and Hjordis (Lindquist) Schrader.

His younger years were spent on farms in central Minnesota where he attended rural schools until he was in his teens. His family then moved to Montana where he resided until returning to Minnesota in 1955.

Bill married Karen Elaine Robinson June 3, 1956, near Deer River, Minn., at her parent’s farm. They lived in Montana and Wyoming  during their early married life.

Upon returning to Minnesota, Bill was employed at Mando/Boise Cascade from 1960 to 1984, and they made their home in International Falls where their two children were born and raised.

Injuries and health issues resulted in early retirement. After Bill’s open-heart surgery and stroke in 1994, they moved to Warroad where his wife taught school.

Finally, after her retirement in 2001, they were able to reside full time at their home near Birchdale where he spent many happy hours in his workshop creating wooden treasures.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hjordis; in-laws, Eugene and Vada Robinson; infant sister, Janice Marie; brothers, Roger and Jimmie Schrader; and sister-in-law, Glenna Caldwell.

Survivors include his loving wife, Karen; son, George; grandson, Bill; a special little great-grandson, Carter Robert Schrader McBride; daughter, Glenora Hope (Darin) Everett; and grandchildren, Jeffery and Elizabeth. Also, siblings, Barbara (Wes) Stidham, Ronald (Cheryl) Schrader, Rolland (Ilene) Schrader, Bonnie (Les) Butler, Connie Ray, and sister-in-law Rosalea Schrader. Aunts Alice Clear, Hattie Nerdahl, and Shirley Eckhoff and numerous nieces and nephews survive.

Nieces Colleen Mooney and Julie Shandera were with the family when Bill breathed his last. Bill was blessed, too, with many loving cousins and friends. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Green-Larsen Mortuary.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Birchdale Congregational Church.

Interment will be at Popple/Kinghurst Cemetery, Dora Lake, Minn., Wednesday afternoon.

If so desired, in memoriam donations may be made to North Star Hospice, 900 Third St., International Falls, MN 56649.

Condolences may be left at www.greenlarsen.com.

Arrangements are with Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc., International Falls.
