Millerbernd accepts BSU scholarship
Kelly Millerbernd of Littlefork has accepted a $1,000 Campus Honors Scholarship from Bemidji State University for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Millerbernd, a freshman, is undecided on a major field of study.
The Campus Honors Scholarship is a one-time award available to all high school graduates who rank in the top 15 percent of their class with an ACT composite score of 23 or higher.
BSU will present more than $1.1 million in academic, talent, and leadership scholarships this year. The awards are made possible through donations to the BSU Foundation, the Alumni Association, and other organizations that specify funds for such causes.
Ness recieves Singer Scholarship
Thomas Ness, of Lebanon, Mo., is the recipient of the Singer Scholarship award from the University of Miami.
Ness is one of 30 students who will be attending the university in the fall and was selected to receive the prestigious honor from a group of approximately 300 candidates. As a Singer Scholar, Ness has been awarded a full-tuition scholarship to attend the University of Miami.
“We are extremely proud of and pleased for Thomas. We want to congratulate him and his family and look forward to welcoming him to our community in the fall,” offered Edward M. Gillis, assistant vice president for enrollment management.
The Singer Scholarship is given to the top applicants who have distinguished themselves by their extraordinary academic ability, as well as their dedication to expanding their knowledge outside of the classroom.
Ness is the son of Paul and Natalie Ness and the grandson of Bob and Teresa Ness, and Marilyn and Bill (deceased) Wednchuk.
