Fourteen Falls High School seniors were recognized for completing the 2008-2009 school year STRIVE Program at an awards picnic June 4 for the STRIVE students and their families at City Beach.
The 14 students recognized with grant awards are: Lucas Brinkman, Courtney Scholler, Kaysha Graves, Bryanna Harmel, Angela Krzoska, Tyler Covel, Cassidy Moe, Carly Reller, Anna Stavseth, Thomas Briggs, Jamie Fraik-Niemi, Edmend Kingbird, Hayley Hilfer, and Amy Milender.
STRIVE is an incentive program designed to assist students that may not be meeting their maximum potential in school. STRIVE attempts to help Falls High School seniors become successful by provided new incentives and help during their last year in high school. The STRIVE Program is based on three keys of success: Show up, do the work, and have a positive attitude.
Guest speakers at the monthly meetings provided new incite and encouragement to the Strive mentors and students. Guest speakers included Sue Fraik, Steve Earley, Ladd Kocinski, Jeff Hardwig, Duane Carlson, Dave Peterson, Jeff Wickstrom, and David Hebig.
STRIVE committee members are: Sue Anderson, Gordy Dault, Kathy Dault, Donna R. Erickson, Kevin Grover, Nancy Johnson, Duayne Johnson, Thane Grewatz, Sheryl Hendrickson, Ardel Henrickson, Pat Kjellgren, Flossie Knutson, Maggie McBride, Wayne Merrell, Sue Nordquist, Bob Peterson, Nancy Rognerud Punky Stadum, Betty Villalta, Laurie Youso. Duayne Johnson is the director and Maggie McBride is the secretary for the STRIVE Program.
