Rainy Lake Sport Fishing Club to hold Spring Banquet

No votes yet

The Rainy Lake Sport Fishing Club Family Banquet is continuing off the success of last year’s changes to include children’s activities and both a traditional and silent auction. The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 26 at the Holiday Inn. The shaved beef and chicken banquet dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.
Club members are currently selling tickets and looking for event sponsors. They are also accepting donations for the auction.
“It’s a good chance to get some good buys on merchandise,” said Steve Lindberg, club secretary. “Last year, it was fun as some folks were bound and determined to get certain items, and ended up in some fun bidding wars.”
In addition to the youth contests, which are free, every child that attends the banquet will get a prize, says Lindberg.
The club did not have a fishing derby this year due to weather and are substituting the banquet as their fundraising activity to cover general operating expenses and costs for their annual fish fry and other sport fishing activities. The club’s gambling funds are limited to specific purposes — mainly for children’s activities.
“In years past the banquet has been more of a reward to the membership,” said Lindberg. “This year, we must change the focus. We still want a fun event, but we do need to make money.”
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 15 and under.
New members are welcome. Get banquet tickets or memberships at Outdoorsman’s Headquarters, Sportsman’s Service, and Rainy Lake 1 Stop. For more information call ****** and Sally Schaak at 283-2074, or Steve Lindberg at 286-5809.
