International Falls’ junior varsity football team finished 3-3 in 2009. They capped the season with a 20-0 win over Bemidji. Starting offensive linemen Jack Bragg, Brennen Humphrey, Beau Herzig, Ryan Kilbride and Andrew Isensee opened holes all game for running backs Josh Potter and Josh Owen, who scored the first touchdown. Gunnar Anderson hit Pat Dougherty for the second score and Ben King ran a reverse in for the third score. The Broncos’ front seven, led by Kevin Neighbor, Kyle Fisher, Dillon Cordts, Zach Eide and Jesse Skogstad, proved to be a wall against the Lumberjacks, and a secondary with Drew Harmel, Dusty Lehman and Cade Mackay helped stop Bemidji through the air. The two other wins on the season came against Eveleth-Gilbert and Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin, while the losses came against Hibbing, Virginia and Grand Rapids.
