Our Koo-chi-ching Twirlers first club dance and our new dancer graduation was an amazing success. WOW !!! What a dance!
It’s still hard to believe how many dancers made the trip to Littlefork to celebrate with us and gave us so much support.
We had over six squares of six different clubs from 11 cities or communities. That’s a total of 54 dancers. Our state president of the Square Dance Federation of Minnesota commented: “So often, in recent times, we come to a dance and find out that it is the last dance they're having. It is so refreshing to come to a new club that is just starting."
Besides the state president, we had several other dignitaries present. Also attending were the presidents of both the northeast and northwest regions of the Square Dance Federation and other club and regional officers. As far as we're concerned, all of the visitors were dignitaries.
Roger Lueth brought us through our paces which delivered lots of whoops and hollers and laughter. He kept everyone on their toes. Donna Stone cued several rounds for the group thereby introducing our new dancers to “round dancing.”
Responding to an invitation to the community that anyone who wished, could come and watch; quite a few spectators came. We could see interest and we're looking for more new students next year.
After the dance the tables were brought out and the potluck dinner was served. So everyone left on a happy note with a full tummy on their long rides back home. We want to thank all of our visitors for coming out to celebrate with us. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. WOW!!!
We are going to have regular dances at the Littlefork Community Building on the second and fourth Sundays of every month, starting in April. For our next dance, we are going to meet as a group and travel to Grand Rapids and dance with the square dance club there. We'll meet around noon so we can get there by 2 p.m. when the dance starts.
If anyone is interested in joining our square dancing activity, call Dennis and Annette Bush at 283-9533. Happy dancing everyone!
