The Fort Frances Museum is currently presenting an exhibition of the works of local artist Millie Eide Gladu (1925 – 1993).
A painter, sculptor and draftsman, as well as an active member of the Fort Frances art community starting in the 1950s; Millie dedicated her life to teaching and creating art, and was involved in the formation of the Fort Frances Art Club.
Throughout her career she experimented with a variety of styles and media and had works exhibited throughout Canada, the United States and England.
The exhibition, which runs through the end of February, displays paintings and sculptures from throughout her life, show casing the artist’s experimentation with a variety of different styles.
On Jan. 30, the museum will be holding art programs for children. Two sessions, from 10 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 3 p.m., will be held at a cost of $5 per child/session.
A two-hour techniques and themes workshop for adults who would like to explore their artistic side, will also be offered on Feb. 21 in two sessions: 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. There will be a registration fee of $5.

An open house and show closing of the Millie Eide Gladu exhibition will be held on March 1. Refreshments will be served.
The museum on Scott Street in Fort Frances is open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The public is invited to drop in and have a look around. Many of the paintings and drawings in the exhibition are for sale, with all proceeds going to arts and heritage programming in the community.
