To the editor,
The Borderland Humane Society is actively selling tickets for a chance to win a Yamaha Rhino 450 as a fundraiser. BHS relies solely on volunteers to help with animal needs.
We are desperately in need of a shelter. Presently, the BHS has only three active foster parents to take in neglected or abused animals. We are unable to take surrenders at this time due to the lack of facilities. BHS receives monies from the city and county to help with animal needs. Ninety percent of the budget received is for the medical/spay/neuter of animals. People who need help in spay/neuter of their pet may contact BHS and apply for a $50 voucher, which can be used at the veterinarian of their choice.
We encourage people to join and be a volunteer. Membership is $10 a year and meetings are held the fourth Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the River’s Edge Villa. We need your help and support.
BHS has animals that are available for adoption on a regular basis. Pictures of these animals can be seen in The Daily Journal or online at our Web site at petfinder.com. If you are interested in adopting a pet, you can call us at 218-324-2313 or visit our Web site at www.borderlandhumansociety.org.
There is still time to purchase your ticket to help animals in need. Rhino tickets are $10 each and the drawing will be held on Sept. 19 at the Coffee Landing at 3 p.m. You need not be present to win. Tickets can be purchased at the following businesses: Baduik Equipment, Sportsman’s, Randy’s Amoco, Dr. Luke Nemek’s Office, Ballan Furniture, K-104 Radio Station, Shermoen & Jaksa Law Office, Bremer Bank, Coffee Landing, Falls License Bureau, The Daily Journal, Falls Ambulance and Fire Hall, True Star Credit Union, Corrin’s Pluming, SouthNorth, Falls Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Gorden Routier’s Office, The Outdoorsman, Rainy River Veterinary Clinic, Sjobloms, No place Like Home, Streiff’s Floral, Steve Nelson Law Office, Allie Cat Floral, Wells Fargo Bank, Picture Perfect, Chamber of Commerce, ICO, and Family Chiropractic.

Remember, you can make a difference in an animal’s life.
