Kelly A. Meyers, owner of Meyers Lock and Key in International Falls, has been accepted as a new member of the Association of Locksmiths of America Inc.
40 YEARS AGO
Jess Rose, veteran Falls golfer, was honored on his 82nd birthday by members of Falls Country Club during the regular men’s night activities at the clubhouse. Alex Pleimling, president of the club, presented Jess with a gift of rare cologne for men, imported especially for the occasion.
Andy Petersen, who formerly worked in the First National Bank, returned to the Falls Monday afternoon to spend 10 days visiting friends. Petersen, who had lived here 27 years until he left 16 years ago, resides in Bayfield, Wis.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Green.
Mrs. Arthur Holmstrom, 120 Hiway Lane, was the subject of a picture feature in the Monday Minneapolis Tribune. The reason was because her handknit his and hers sweaters won first prize at the Minnesota State Fair.
50 YEARS AGO
Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Loman, celebrated her 79th birthday recently. Relatives and friends honored her at a party in the evening.
A family reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kittelson, 1901 Fifth Ave. E., when 65 members of their immediate family gathered for a lawn picnic.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bancroft, Jameson Addition, moved their household belongings on Monday to Coon Rapids where they will be making their home. They sold their home in Jameson Addition to Mr. and Mrs. James Hazen.
Seeing her sister for the first time in 13 years was a treat Mrs. Lewis Arnold, Jameson Addition, enjoyed yesterday. Mrs. Arnold and Mrs. Brink hadn’t seen each other since shortly after World War II.
60 YEARS AGO
Gerald Ellenson, who has resigned from his position as acting case supervisor for Koochiching County Welfare Office, was feted at a farewell dinner party Tuesday evening at Pine Crest Lodge, Lake Kabetogama. Making arrangements for the affair were Mrs. Shirley Roche and Mrs. John Ruelle.
Mrs. Charles Haley, Loman Route, was entertained at a “cradle” shower Wednesday evening in Happy Hollow Community Hall.
A 12-pound walleye was hauled from the American waters of Rainy Lake this week. Identity of the lucky fisherman was not learned immediately. He fished out of Rainy Lake Lodge operated by Larry Lenth. It is the largest walleye caught in Minnesota waters of Rainy.
Mr. and Mrs. John Pushkin Sontorovich, 521 Fourth Ave., are parents of a son born Monday in La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances. He weighed 6 1/2 pounds. They have named their first child John Michael.
