Former International Falls resident Effie Blubaugh has been named one of three San Bernardino County Teachers of the Year for 1999. She is the daughter of Falls resident Theone Bernard, and the late Don Bernard.
International Falls Art Club with its gallery located in the Richmond Floral Shop is presenting Meda Jeannine Trompeter as December’s “Artist of the Month.”

25 YEARS AGO
After 30 years at the helm of the Bronco hockey team, Larry Ross admits that retirement can’t be that far away. But he isn’t ready. “I’ll retire when I know I should,” said Ross as he was preparing for the season opener against Greenway Friday.
A Falls physician, Dr. George Crow, has received a citation from the American Medical Association which honors his commitment to keep up-to-date his medical expertise.

40 YEARS AGO
Leo N. Jung, 66, retired School District 361 Industrial Arts teacher, died early Thanksgiving morning at St. Mary’s Hospital, where he had been a patient for a week.
Rainy Lake resort owner Mrs. Arnold (Mabes) Anderson, 66, died Thanksgiving morning in DelRay Beach, Fla. Mrs. Anderson and her husband started building Gwan-At-Chi-Wan Lodge in 1942, opening it in 1946 when he returned from service.
Seaman Apprentice Roy Servis of the Falls, who recently graduated from Naval boot camp at San Diego, Calif., is now stationed at Naval Air Station 53 at Memphis, Tenn.
Mrs. Sadie Steele, retired LPN and justice of the peace, celebrated her 77th birthday Friday in her apartment on Fifth Street. Arriving at noon with a surprise luncheon were the Mmes. Delia Monrean, Ross Trott and Ross Pelland, who also brought a birthday cake. Mrs. Steele’s daughter, Mrs. Ernest Silvers, brought a second cake in the afternoon which was shared by friends, neighbors and former co-workers at Falls Memorial Hospital.

A son was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bolstad, 1306 Main Ave., Richard John, 8 pounds, 3 ounces.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Roderick, 6 pounds, 3 1/4 ounces.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lundquist, 308 Eighth St., 5 pounds.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fehrman, 9 pounds, 5 ounces.

Mrs. H.H. LaBelle was honored at a stork shower last night when Mrs. William Wagner, Miss Steffanie Arlock, Mrs. Anne Steinmetz and Mrs. Bruce Lowey entertained in the home of the latter.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Moone, French Addition, became parents of a boy weighing 6 pounds, 1 ounce, Nov. 29. Also on Nov. 29, Mr. and Mrs. William B. Arch, 1114 Sixth St., welcomed a son whose weight was 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
