Army National Guard Pfc. Donald A. Grinsell, son of Thomas and Norma Grinsell of 928 Third St., has received the parachutist badge upon completion of the three-week airborne course at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga.

Rainy River State College Players, directed by Richard Hill, will present “Spoon River Anthology” at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday in Faith United Church of Christ, 1001 Fifth St. Actor One is Scott Crowe, Actress Two is Karen Turnquist, Actor Three is Bill Niemi and Actress Four is Nancy Nesbitt.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bernath spent the weekend at the Doyle Nelson home at Ely. Ellen Bernath accompanied them home and then went on to Minneapolis.
Border City’s Barbers’ Local 147, for the 12th year, gave free haircuts to patients at Falls Nursing Home. Some of those receiving haircuts were: William Tynisma, 75; Frank Kenick, 84; Erwin Giauque, 95; John Johnson, 65; Wilhelm Maass, 96; George Thomas, 73; Reuben Dahl, 69; and Frances Baker, 43.

Bethlehem Congregational Church at their annual meeting approved leasing their new educational building to School District 361. The plan is to use the quarters for part of the seventh grade which will overflow Backus Junior High School.
The village council of South International Falls will advertise for applicants for the position of fire chief. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Chief Friedolph Thompson at last night’s council meeting. Poundmaster Alfred Jensen also notified the council that he will not be applying for the poundmaster position in 1960.
Mrs. Donald Grimwood was guest of honor at a stork shower at a Thursday afternoon luncheon at the home of Mrs. John Young, 125 Riverview Boulevard.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shoquist, 510 Eighth St., 5 pounds, 13 ounces.
The Falls Recreation Center will open its doors to the public Tuesday morning. It is located at 308 Fourth St., in a building formerly occupied by the Co-op store. Operated by Cy Walker, the place is equipped with five pool tables and a shuffle board lane. A coffee bar in charge of Mrs. Walker will dispense coffee, pie, cake and rolls.
Arvo Oscar Halone, 35-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Halone, 1112 Sixth St., died in an out-of-town hospital. He had been ill since 12 years of age.
Mr. and Mrs. William Borg, 504 Ninth St., entertained at a dinner Sunday in honor of Mrs. Arnvid Anderson, who was celebrating her birthday anniversary. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Arnvid Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Munro and children, Arlene and Roberta, Miss Martha Clemonson and Miss Bonita Derby.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Edwardson, Browns Corner, was the scene of a triple birthday party on Saturday evening when their sons, Ronald and Vernon, and a niece Darlene Thompson, celebrated their birthday anniversaries.
