Four Bronco hockey players sat in the stands during the team’s practice Saturday morning — with ice bags helping nurse bumps and bruises sustained during Friday night’s game with Fort Frances. Falls coach Kevin Gordon said “We knew we had to play physical to slow them down and to hold our own with a very good Fort Frances team.” The result was a 3-0 win for the Broncos.

Former Falls High School athlete Dick Haugland has qualified for a chance at one of sport’s richest prizes — $1 million for a hole-in-one. Haugland will vie with nine other finalists for the $1 million prize in the Sunkist-Fiesta Bowl tomorrow.
Stacey Adams, formerly of 1318 10th Ave., International Falls, is currently employed as a financial planner by the ACI Financial Corp. at Minnetonka.

U.S. Air Force M/Sgt. Ralph W. Melin, son of Mrs. Alma Gronwoldt, 723 1/2 Sixth St., is attending the Air University academic instructor course at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vadnais shall be Christmas Day dinner guests of his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Sam (Vina) Peterson, Terrace Homes, the Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gendron, the Falls, parents of Mr. Bill Gendron, Forest Point, shall be dinner guests Christmas Day at the home of their son and daughter-in-law. Christmas Eve, the Gendrons’ two daughters and families will spend this special family time with them at Forest Point.
William Wiemer Jr. CS3, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wiemer, 702 10th St., has received his separation from the U.S. Navy after serving two years of duty with a portion of that time spent in Vietnam.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Curran, South International Falls, 8 pounds, 12 1/2 ounces.
Mike Koranda is celebrating his sixth birthday today.
A daughter was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Francis, 8 pounds.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey L. Parkin, 1215 First Ave. W., observed their 25th wedding anniversary recently at an open house for friends and relatives.
60 YEARS AGO
A daughter was born Dec. 19 to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Constantine, Ranier, Robyn Beth Constantine.
Mr. and Mrs. Baxter Boe, 824 Second St., will entertain at open house beginning at 2 p.m. Monday. Guests will be employees of Falls Creamery and their families.
The Dutch Room was the scene of a Christmas party last Thursday when Stevenson’s store entertained. There were eight guests.
Mrs. Edgar Terry entertained employees of Lee Hat and Specialty Shop at a Yule party last Saturday evening. A Christmas motif decorated the rooms. The six guests exchanged gifts.
