David Stemm with B Company out of Schweinfurt, Germany, enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with President Clinton and his daughter Chelsea. The president and his daughter had dinner with the troops in Camp Bon Steel in Kosovo. David is the son of Cheryl Stemm of International Falls and is a 1991 graduate of Falls High School.
Congratulations to Brent and Cheryl Bocnuk and big brothers Billy and Benji on the birth of Lacey Lynne born today, 8 pounds, 8 1/2 ounces, 21 1/2 inches.

Jennifer Brekke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Brekke, was named to the Moorhead State University dean’s list in recognition of academic achievement fall quarter.
Falls native Bob Mason lost his goalie spot on the Washington Capital’s roster this week to Al Jensen who Washington brought up from Binghamton of the American Hockey League. Mason, meanwhile, was sent to Binghamton.

A daughter was born today in LaVerendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. James Davis, International Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Emery, 1318 11th St., announce the engagement of their daughter, Martha Kay, to Jerome M. Karsnia, son of Mrs. Marie Karsnia and the late Romeo Karsnia.
Pfc. Loren D. Louiseau and Miss Dianne Louiseau arrived in the Falls Dec. 21 to spend the Christmas holidays at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Louiseau, 616 Seventh St.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ojala, Newport, Rainy Lake, welcomed his parents from Gary, Ind., on Christmas Eve. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ojala Sr. shall remain until the first of the year.

Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Judson, 803 Second St., announce the engagement of their daughter, Joyce Ellyn, to Leland R. Carew, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Carew, 803 Ninth St.
A Christmas baby arrived when Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ittner, 1208 Seventh St., became the parents of a son born on Christmas day. The son weighed 6 pounds and 3 ounces.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Brunette Jr. were guests of honor at a going away party Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Pullar, Rogers Route. Mr. and Mrs. Brunette will leave in January for Arizona where they will make their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Jones, Mary Ann and Maxine, South International Falls, spent Christmas in Minneapolis with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pederson and three sons. The Joneses made the trip by train when the weather became stormy Wednesday.

K.J. Pfeifer, Ranier, was reported in good condition today following an emergency operation for a ruptured appendix. Pfeifer was taken by plane yesterday to Virginia where he underwent surgery.
Miss LaVerne Lindner has chosen Jan. 7 for her marriage to Daniel Geer, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Geer of this city.
Wallace J. Kucera Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace J. Kucera of Ericsburg, will celebrate his 14th birthday Jan. 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. McCarty and children, French Addition, left today for Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where McCarty will be employed. A member of the Mando research laboratory staff for two years, Mr. McCarty has resigned to accept employment with Penick and Ford a starch manufacturing concern.
