Falls goalie Jayme Fisher showed the form he exhibited at the end of last season, and with the help of a tight defense reminiscent of the 1995 state championship team, the Broncos edged Hibbing 2-1 in overtime. It was the Broncos first win over Hibbing since 1996.
Edna Vigoren is recuperating at Falls Good Samaritan Center following hip surgery.

25 YEARS AGO
There will be a 90th birthday open house for Sam C. Nash Dec. 8, 3 to 5 p.m., at the Senior Citizens Hall.
The Falls Senior High School “A” squad majorettes are RaeLynn Puttbrese, Patty Villalta, Debbie Lepper, Jamie Lepper, Sherri Borden and Carol Kuttes.

40 YEARS AGO
Miss Joan Klow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Klow of Ranier, is well underway in the three-year program of nursing education at St. Barnabas Hospital School of Nursing, Minneapolis. The 42 members of the Class of 1972 will be honored at capping ceremonies Dec. 5.
U.S. Army PFC Angelo J. Gust, son of Mrs. Melvin LaPointe, 1001 Ninth St., is serving as a grenadier in Company A, 1st Battalion of the 25th Infantry Division’s 27th Infantry near Cu Chi, Vietnam.
A Thanksgiving reunion at the Warren Bilben home, 818 Seventh St., was 38 years in the making. Research conducted by Mrs. Bilben (Ad) over the years and finally with the help of the Lutheran social agency of Madison, Wis., revealed to Mrs. Bilben that she had a family. Seated around the festive Thanksgiving board at the Bilbens were 12 of Mrs. Bilben’s family and, she adds, “That’s just a drop in the bucket.”
Airman George M. Kostin, U.S. Navy, son of Mrs. Art C. Erickson, of 214 Second Ave., completed a seven-month deployment in the Tonkin Gulf aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Oriskany, homeported at Alameda, Calif.

50 YEARS AGO
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Duane Lenth, 310 Fifth St., 6 pounds, 12 ounces, Mary Louise.
A/2c Robert L. Owen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Owen, Goldville Addition, arrived home Saturday from Fort Lee, Va. He will spend a 40-day leave visiting his parents and friends.
A new barber has been added to our shop at the Rex Hotel — Jack Clarity, a recent graduate of the nationally known Sioux City, Iowa, School of Barbering and Vocational High and Technical Institute at Minneapolis. We’re anxious to help you look your best. Jack Clarity, Otto Clarity, Jack Leigh.
An International Falls man who hasn’t missed a Fort Frances Canadian hockey game on home ice in five years was the first season ticket buyer for the Canuck’s home season. The man who bought the first season ticket was Julius Begg, Sawmill Addition.

60 YEARS AGO
Jackie Sutliffe, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sutliffe, Carson-Lupie Addition, was feted at a birthday party Saturday afternoon in her home.
“Once a papermaker, always a papermaker.” That was the sentiment expressed today by Frank Arnold, veteran machine tender on No. 4 paper machine in commenting on his retirement Nov. 28. Arnold rounded out 30 years of service to Mando and a full half century in the papermaking fraternity.
Terry Lee Rinne, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Eino Rinne, 508 1/2 Ninth St., will spend his fifth birthday anniversary in Falls Memorial Hospital, where he is receiving attention for an ear infection.
A son was born today in Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Thompson, 1120 13th Ave. Weight, 9 pounds, 13 ounces. Infant has been named William Benjamin.
