Brent Gerlach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Gerlach, 1300 Beyer Drive, has successfully completed 1,500 hours of classroom and practical training in Barbering at the Minneapolis Area Vocational-Technical School.
Borderland’s own Paul Bunyan for over 20 years, Len Costley, won’t be at the hearthside of his family for Christmas nor for his 84th birthday on Dec. 31. He is a patient at the nursing home in Bagley.
Paul Koski, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Koski, 809 Sixth St., who enlisted in the Army for two years and commenced basic training at Fort Bragg, N.C., on Sept. 30, is now taking 17 weeks of advanced training at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., where he arrived Dec. 5.
Phyllis Rosenthal is the newly appointed Koochiching County Chairman of the 1970 Heart Fund Campaign.

Christmas customs in Norway will be described by Miss Wenche Andersen, Norwegian foreign exchange student, when Rotarians stage their annual Father and Child Program at Community Building Wednesday.
E.J. “Buck” Riley, the Falls, who has been officiating hockey games in the Border area and throughout Minnesota for 20 years, has been named as one of the two American hockey referees for the Olympic Winter games at Squaw Valley, Colo.

Women’s Society of Christian Service, Calvary Methodist Church, feted Mr. and Mrs. Bert Teal, Falls residents for 19 years, Monday evening in the church in observance of their 54th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mannausau, Loman residents for 46 years, will be feted at a reception Sunday evening in Loman School in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary.
