Darrell Wagner represented Rainy River State Junior College in the Minnesota State Junior College wrestling tournament held recently at Itasca State Junior College. Wagner placed fifth in his class.

Mr. and Mrs. George Makidon, 920 10th Ave., announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Rose Marie, to Gregory B. Harcus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Harcus of Racine, Wis.

New officers of Girl Scout Troop 21 are: Fay Blade, president; Eloyce Roy, vice president; Irene Vadnais, secretary-treasurer and scribe.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hakenson and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Christensen motored to Ericsburg to help Mrs. Clifford Ostlund and Walter Hendrickson celebrate their birthday anniversaries.

The 1950 Hudson is now on display at Hodgdon Motors, 220 Fourth St. One of the new features of the Custom Commodore and Super series is the “two-person arm rest.” The arm folds down in a single movement to form a rest for passenger comfort and convenience.

70 YEARS AGO

Feb. 19 will always be a red letter day for Mrs. Clarence LaBlanc. Mrs. LaBlanc caught a monster — a 30-pound great northern — one of the biggest on record anyplace. Mrs. LaBlanc speared the prize in Tilson Creek and her father, Richard Waters, helped her haul the fish to the ice surface.

Little Joan Yvonne Fafford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fafford, was guest of honor at a party Monday afternoon celebrating her second birthday. The six little friends enjoyed an afternoon of games.

Mrs. Ed Nelson, Mrs. Albert Dahl and Mrs. Clifford Howard motored to Duluth Monday where they spent the day shopping and attending the movie “Gone With the Wind.”

Donald Darvell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Darvell, is convalescing in the Werner Clinic following an appendectomy Sunday.
