Mr. and Mrs. Sinai Gosselin celebrated 50 years of marriage July 14. A Mass was conducted in their honor at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Dean, OMI, officiating.
Five members of the Falls Figure Skating Club recently advanced to various levels of skating after passing tests during summer skating at the Bemidji Figure Skating Club. They are Kim Boyum, Sherie Dion, Tara Sohlman, Carmen Goetz and Tanja Goetz.

40 YEARS AGO
Petty Officer Second Class James W. Carlson, U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond W. Carlson of 606 Third Ave., is serving in Vietnam with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 58.
Janice Turenne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Turenne, 1124 11th Ave., a second year nursing student at the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, has been awarded a renewal Ordean Foundation Scholarship.
Shipfitter Third Class Donald W. Schmidtbauer, U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schmidtbauer of 805 Eighth Ave., is serving aboard the destroyer USS Norris operating as a part of the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean.
Drs. George Crow, Ralph Hanover and Frederick Walter have announced the association of Dr. Jon M. Talsness in the practice of medicine here. He is now located in the office of Dr. Walter, 429 Third St.

50 YEARS AGO
Mary Beth Hodgson, 4, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hodgson, Island View Route, was honored at a birthday party Saturday afternoon at her home.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Randolph and family, Guthrie Center, Iowa, former residents of the Falls area, will be making their home at the Vayne Lord Resort, Island View Route.
Nels M. Monson, 610 Fourth Ave., retired from Mando July 20 and has been taking life easy and will be spending some time visiting his sister in Grygla.
Lyle Hanson, formerly of Rochester, is the manager of the new Erickson service station which staged its formal opening over the weekend.

60 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith, South International Falls, are parents of a daughter, Sheila Marie, born July 25 in Littlefork Hospital. The infant weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
Mr. and Mrs. William Blais, Jameson Addition, welcomed a son born July 26 in Falls Memorial Hospital. The infant weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Holsman, 1124 Sixth St., are parents of a son born yesterday in Falls Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces.
Mrs. Gerald Batcher and infant son, Jerry, 103 13th St., departed yesterday for Minneapolis on the first lap of a journey which will take them to Oslo, Norway. This will be Mrs. Batcher’s first visit home since coming to the states three years ago.
