Airman William M. Nordlund, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Nordlund of Littlefork, has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Allan T. Johnson, U.S. Navy, son of Dr. and Mrs. M.W. Johnson of 115 Wayside Lane, completed flight training and was designated an aviator at the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christie, Texas.
Engineman Third Class David A. Anderson, U.S. Navy, son of Mrs. Norma Anderson of 10th Avenue and 15th Street, was advanced to his present rate while serving aboard the dock landing ship USS Cabildo at Long Beach.
At public ceremonies at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Loman School, Robert Barden, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chet Barden, Loman, will be invested as an Eagle Scout.

A daughter was born today to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martel, 6 pounds and 1 3/4 ounces.
Brian Dessin entertained six boy friends to mark his 10th birthday Tuesday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Dessin, 400 Eighth Ave.
Miss Marie Jarshaw was honored at a house-warming party at her Rainy Lake home. Fifty members of the hospital staff were present for the occasion and they presented Miss Jarshaw with a three-piece set of lawn furniture.
Roy Dudley Jr. was honored on the occasion of his birthday at a picnic held at the Bert Dahl residence in Loman.
60 YEARS AGO
Alderman Claude Blais was named last night as manager of the International Falls Municipal Airport.
Edward Zurick, a purser in the merchant marine, arrived this week for his first visit home in two years. Zurick was met at the Duluth airport by his mother, Mrs. Michael Zdeb, his sister, Mrs. Edward Giauque, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Stanley Zurick, all of the Falls.
Gordon Cawthorne and Gus Belcher are among the Veterans of Foreign Wars delegates attending the annual 8th District meeting which got underway in Eveleth yesterday.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Olson were entertained Friday evening at a picnic at City Beach by the married couples of the public school faculty.
