Dr. and Mrs. D.W. McQuoid and family of Littlefork will be honored at a public farewell party at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Littlefork-Big Falls High School Auditorium.
Miss Cathy Rask, student at the St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Duluth, spent two weeks at her parental home visiting with her mother, Mrs. Betty Arnold, 1605 First Ave. E.
S/A Frank Hugh Pavek, U.S. Navy, is spending a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Pavek, 148 Riverview Boulevard. Following his leave, he will report to the Naval Security School in San Diego, Calif., as he has volunteered for special training for duty in Vietnam.
Roy Willett, son of Roy J. Willett of the Falls, has been accepted at the Vocational-Technical School of Canby for the 1969-70 school year.

Mrs. Lloyd Barg was recently honored at a pink and blue shower at the home of Mrs. Robert Barkovic, 1121 14th Ave.
Sale of City Drug store, one of the Falls’ pioneer business institutions, was announced today. New owner is Ellsworth L. “Andy” Anderson, pharmacist at the store since 1956. He purchased the store from C.L. “Pete” Peterson, owner for the last five years and an employee for 24 years prior to ownership.
“It was raining and the streets were deep with mud. Believe me I cried and was ready to go back to Wisconsin,” tiny Mrs. Joseph Straub (Catherine) recalled yesterday at her 86th birthday party when speaking of her arrival here 47 years ago.
A daughter was born today to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miller, 7 pounds, 1 1/4 ounces.
60 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carrier, South International Falls, are parents of a son born today in Falls Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces.
David Farmer, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Farmer, 1203 Seventh Ave., was back home this morning, and feeling sorry over the anxious moments he caused his parents by staying away all night without permission. It developed that David had attended a late Sunday night show at one of the theaters and afterwards accompanied Irwin Clark, 614 Fifth Ave., to the latter’s home. Being a friend of Irwin and Gary Clark, David accepted an invitation to spend the night at the Clark residence, never thinking that his parents would worry.
Last rites for Mrs. Anna Lowe, 71, Falls resident since 1912, were conducted this afternoon in Zion Lutheran Church. During the service, two hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Savior” were sung by Mrs. Nick Kostiuk.
A public gathering place in the basement of the old Ranier school house has been closed by the Koochiching County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Ed Anderson said that its managers, Fred and Bud Lessard, were told to close up after an investigation by his officers early Sunday morning. Members of the sheriff’s office visited the place about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The place was well attended.
