Jamie Ewald graduated with honors from the University of North Dakota receiving a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Troy Jon Cayou, son of Joe Cayou and the late Kathryn Cayou, received a bachelor of arts degree during the Hamline University’s college of liberal arts commencement ceremony, graduating cum laude with a major in chemistry.

In honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Foyt, their children and grandchildren request the pleasure of your company at a dinner-reception the 21st of July at St. Thomas Aquinas Hall, starting at 6 p.m.
Greg Ross began golfing “again” last year when he couldn’t find enough opponents on the tennis court. On Sunday, the 23-year-old from Fort Frances won the 30th Annual Smokey Bear Golf Tournament with a final round 74.

40 YEARS AGO
Paul Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Schultz, 1305 14th Ave., graduated from Moorhead State College, Moorhead, at commencement exercises June 11.
SM3 Kenny Dobie, U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dobie, Island View Route, was promoted to seaman third class the first of July.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kucera.
Sixteen-year-old Jeff Lindvall captured the Smokey Bear Tournament yesterday at Falls Country Club. Lindvall finished six over par 181 to edge Buzzy Christenson and Bob Van Hoven 182 and 183 respectively.

50 YEARS AGO
Timbertennial Queen Rochelle Hazen has acquired a new title — that of Miss Bemidji. Queen Rochelle won her latest crown at Bemidji’s Paul Bunyan water carnival.
Mr. and Mrs. John Chovan and daughter, Linda, 1304 10th St., spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zaller, Rauch. While at Rauch they attended a family reunion picnic at Thistle Dew Lake. This is an annual affair.
David Steen and Robert Meyer, members of First Baptist Church young people’s group, are attending Bible camp this week near Bemidji.
Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Pullar, Rogers Route, announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Doreen Renee, to L.A.C. Gordon McMurray, Gimli, Manitoba, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred McMurray, Glenwood, Alberta.

60 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. James Kirk, nee Eileen Beatrice Leverance, have returned from their honeymoon and are residing at 452 Third St. E., Fort Frances, for the remainder of the summer.
Sharon Stillar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stillar Jr., 1219 13th Ave., entertained 25 of her playmates in celebration of her seventh birthday anniversary Tuesday.
Leo H. Dominick, head of the Fergus Falls school system for 12 years, is the new superintendent of Independent School District 4, International Falls. Dominick will occupy the position left vacant by the resignation of Harvey D. Jensen.
Mrs. Al Schneider, Crystal Beach, was feted at a surprise stork shower in absentia Wednesday afternoon by friends and neighbors. Her daughter was born Wednesday morning in Falls Memorial Hospital.
