An International Falls man was recently promoted to superintendent of Railroad Operations of the Minnesota, Dakota and Western Railway Company. Lonnie Butts, a 1963 graduate of Falls High School, will be responsible for the supervision of all switching operations of the railroad and also will oversee operation of the section crew. He will report to Elmer Braaten, general manager-rail.

Two-year-old Jane Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hill, 1320 Seventh Ave., was bitten on the left leg by a stray dog Sunday afternoon. City Poundmaster Henry Piekarski impounded the dog.
Mrs. Howard Golden, 401 Seventh St., was guest of honor at a surprise pink and blue shower at the home of Mrs. Rae Hall, 411 Seventh St.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Christianson, Island View Route, 6 pounds, 3 ounces.

Miss Maria Johnson, mathematics instructor at Backus Junior High School, is resting comfortably in St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, following surgery last week.
An ordinance to prohibit the shooting of fireworks in International Falls was in the making today after council members agreed last night that the practice has become a dangerous nuisance.
