Judy Garland, 47, who made more than 35 films but was best known for her role as a little girl named Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz,” was found dead yesterday by her fifth husband, Mickey Deans, in the bathroom of her London home.
Stephen Museta, 11, Douglas Jokinen, 11, and Nick Kochaniuk, 10, are enrolled in the hockey school at Bemidji State University. Their professional instructors include Mike Curran, formerly of the Falls, who is the goalie instructor.
Falls High School alumna Michelle Marie Robbie was among the 4,711 students receiving degrees at the University of Minnesota commencement in Memorial Stadium Saturday evening.

Mrs. Urho Tilander, South International Falls, and her daughter, Miss Opal Tilander, Miss Sharalyn Blanchard, Miss Lillian Pautz, Miss Sharon Hill and Miss Patricia Waldbillig were hostesses at a pink and blue shower in honor of Mrs. Tilander’s daughter, Mrs. Fred Rosten.
A group of neighborhood friends honored Mrs. Rae Hall, 411 Seventh St., yesterday on the occasion of her birthday. Mrs. Elvina Krohn, mother of Mrs. Hall, baked the birthday cake.

William Dundon, better known as “Bill the Barber,”"died early Monday at his cabin in Goldville Addition. He was 79 years old. He apparently had succumbed while splitting wood outside his home.
Mr. and Mrs. William Murray, 808 Sixth St., are parents of a daughter born June 20 in Falls Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds, 13 3/4 ounces.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Grimboldy, South International Falls, are parents of a daughter born this morning in Falls Memorial hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces.
Mrs. Rolland Edwards and infant daughter, 708 Seventh St., were feted at a shower in the home of Mrs. Clifford Weum, 1108 Tenth St. Hostesses were Mmes. Weum, Clarence Bigler, Rueben Lindholm and Gene Reeve.
