Getting a hole-in-one is the ultimate goal of every golfer. One that is seldom fulfilled. Not so for Poncho Krantz, International Falls golfer. Krantz recorded his second ace last Monday at the Falls Country Club.
John W. Schweitzer, 32, an instructor in journalism and English at Anoka-Ramsey State Junior College the past two years, assumed his new duties as managing editor of The Daily Journal.
Despite parental warnings against using gasoline, Falls boys Patrick Harris, 7, and Michael Kochaniuk, 12, are hospitalized because of burns caused by igniting gasoline.
Insulite millwright Lester Ellsworth and Harvey D. Barnes, loading checker, are retiring after long association with Boise Cascade and Mando.
50 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Flynn, Patricia, Mary, Katie and Michael, 102 Riverview Boulevard, moved Saturday to Vernon, Calif. Flynn, who has been with Mando the past five years, has accepted a position as an engineer with Fibreboard Paper Products Corp.
Mrs. Nancy Hanson, superintendent and head nurse of the Falls Nursing home, has returned here after attending a two-day institute on nursing home administration at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Continuation Study, Minneapolis.
Roy Krats pitched a five-hit shutout for the Busy Bees Friday night as they took a 5-0 win over Maple Island in City Recreation league softball play.
Ardell Hall, accompanied by Mrs. George Klipness and daughter, Kathleen, Monterey Park, Calif., and Ladd Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hall, San Diego, Calif., arrived to spend some time visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hall, South International Falls.

R.F. Jerome and son, J.L. Jerome, today announced sale of the Frederic Hotel to two Des Moines, Iowa, men. The new owners are C.E. Griffith and K.L. Anderson.
Richard DeBenedet, proprietor of Falls Transit Company, has announced the city bus run will be discontinued for 90 days, commencing July 3. Lack of patronage during summer months forced him to make the decision.
The Border Bar will stage its formal opening Saturday at 415 Third Ave. Ray Harala is proprietor of the establishment. Located in the former Union Bar quarters.
