Rana Johnson, Littlefork, has accepted a University Honor Scholarship to enroll at Bemidji State University for the 1985-86 school year.
A surprise celebration in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of Avis and Tom Hartnell is planned by their children and grandchildren for Sunday, March 10, 3 to 7 p.m., at South Falls Fire Hall.

Miss Elizabeth (Betty) Franklin was elected worthy matron of Star of the North Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, at the annual election Thursday evening in the Masonic Temple. Miss Franklin is the daughter of Mrs. Lillian Franklin and the late Dr. Edward R. Franklin.
Mrs. Tony Weisz has joined the staff of Northland Day Activity Center. She works part-time in the craft and shop department.
Brian Foyt is a new member of the Brown’s Corner 4-H Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Paulson of the Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Brown of Rogers Route were Sunday supper guests at the Henry Brown home.

Vernon Swenson, 9, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Swenson, was honored on Saturday afternoon at his home, the occasion being his birthday.
Bruce Will, son of Dr. and Mrs. C.B. Will, Riverview Boulevard, is recuperating very well in St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, following thyroid surgery.
Clarence Anderson, Oscar Risberg and Walter Lindvall, all of whom are employed in Nekoosa, Wis., with the Paul Laurence Company, spent the weekend in the Falls with their respective families.
Mrs. Duane Olsen and infant son, Dean, were guests of honor at a cradle shower on Friday evening at the home of Mrs. W. Gordon Ettestad, 1113 Wayside Lane.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Emmith Larson, Island View Route; 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
H.W. Keyes was honored at his home at a family dinner on the occasion of his birthday today.
Doris Mattson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Mattson, South International Falls, was taken to Memorial Hospital Friday for an emergency appendectomy.
Mark Evenson today announced the sale of his general insurance agency to Julian R. Thompson and Bert N. Zender, well-known residents of International Falls.

Mrs. E.G. Pullar of Ericsburg entertained a group of friends last week at the home of Mrs. Lee Foyt in honor of the birthday anniversary of her daughter, Etta Jean Pullar.
Miss Shirley Shull, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Shull, who is a freshman at Concordia College at Moorhead, returned to classes today after attending the Students Luther Union assembly at Decorah, Iowa, March 1.
Miss Dorothy Wenberg, employee of the local Montgomery-Ward office left yesterday for Ely where she will work this week.
Jim King came through with flying colors Friday to win the district championship in oratory at the annual high school declamation contest in Gilbert. Jim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank King and is a high school junior.
