Former Bronco and Providence College hockey captain Bruce Raboin received the Newport Area Alumni Club’s Sine Quo Non award at the college’s annual awards banquet. The award is presented to the male and female athlete who distinguished themselves among their peers and who have not adequately been acknowledged during their careers.
Arason’s won this season’s women's A League volleyball championship. Team members are Kelly Blake, Shirley Bilben, Karen Ginter, Linda White, Pam Urban, Brenda Nicholson and Peggy Christenson.

Peggy Thomas this week became the seventh candidate for the title of Timbertennial Queen XII.
A formal retirement ceremony in honor of Earl Belanger will be conducted at the Air National Guard Headquarters in Duluth on May 26. Belanger, who is meteorologist-in-charge of the Falls weather station, is retiring from the Army Reserve after 28 years of service.
Linda Covel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Covel, 614 Eighth Ave., is winner of this year’s Falls Parent-Teacher Association's $200 scholarship.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester Pollard, 1111 Seventh St., entertained Tuesday afternoon at a surprise birthday party for Mrs. John Dwyer.
Twenty-five children were entertained yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Eugene Holler, Highway 53, on the occasion of the fourth birthday of her son, Darrel.
Dr. and Mrs. E.D. Otterholt, Keyes Apartment, residents of the Falls since September, expect to move early next week to the state of Washington. Dr. Otterholt has been associated here with Dr. Erle Thompson.
Patricia Graham, seventh grade student at St. Thomas Parochial School, won first place in a spelling contest in Hibbing Sunday.
