Angela Swenson, daughter of Eugene and Beverly Swenson of the Falls, was awarded the first Ronald and Carol Vantine Scholarship at the annual awards banquet for the computer science department at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, N.D.
Nicole Soboleski, Shannon Nagle, Calvin Turban, Nikki Olson, Dusty Guerton, Jamie Bergstedt, Derek Foss, Breanne Johnson, Lucas Boe, Laura Balaski and Zachary Wood were recently confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.

Terry Ann Miller and Thomas E. Rolando of International Falls and Nicholas Leif of Ranier were among 258 seniors receiving degrees at the 59th commencement of the College of St. Scholastica in the Duluth Auditorium today.
Mark Lessard, son of Butch and Lorraine Lessard of Ranier, was commissioned U.S. Army Second Lieutenant, Infantry, at the commissioning ceremony conducted recently at the University of North Dakota, Reserve Officers Training Corps.

Falls Elementary School first grade teacher, Mrs. Hilford Johnson, has two sets of twins and half of two additional sets in her class: Lucille Johnson, Louise Johnson, Jeane Hauck, Joan Hauck, Donald Shoberg and Diane Max. Falls Elementary School has the distinction of having seven sets of twins enrolled.
Mr. and Mrs. John Monrean, 1901 First Ave. E., will be honored at an open house in their home on June 1 on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.
SN David P. Anderson, U.S. Navy, who served aboard the USS Hugh Purvis for eight months in Vietnamese waters, spent a 14-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Anderson, South International Falls.
In the only two final events contested on Monday the Falls scored five points. John Morehouse tied the school record in the pole vault with a jump of 12'. Jim Lessard placed fifth in the pole vault also.

The mile relay winner in the District 27 track meet at Virginia Friday was the Falls team composed of Jim Krohn, Jim Veeder, Don Sullivan and Greg Olson.
Miss Gwen Phair, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Phair, 408 Sixth St., was graduated from the Misericordia School of Nursing, Winnipeg, on May 10.
Betty Edmundson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Edmundson, will be awarded a bachelor of science degree magna cum laude from Bemidji State College at commencement exercises to be held June 8 at the Bemidji High School auditorium.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Tarro, Faye Apartments, Ronald John, 7 pounds, 3 ounces.

Rev. and Mrs. W.R. Barker were honored at the annual congregational meeting of Full Gospel Assembly in the the church parlors. Morris Shoberg presented gifts to the pastor and his wife as a token of the congregation’s appreciation for the couple’s services.
Gerald Ellenson, Vets Village, was elected president of the Falls Parent-Teacher Association. He succeeds Mrs. Earl Clauson.
Mr. and Mrs. John Wenberg, 1002 10th St., are parents of a son born this morning in Falls Memorial Hospital. The infant weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces.
