25 YEARS AGO
The Broncos’ Scott Jean was a double winner as the Broncos finished second in a triangular meet at the Falls High outdoor track. Jean won the long jump competition with a leap of 20 feet, 4 inches, and won top honors in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet.
The Island View council recently voted 2-1 on a secret ballot to appoint Len Christopher to the job of city clerk. Gertie Jones has moved from the city and cannot continue in the position.

40 YEARS AGO
Cecelia Charlton, Norma Richter, Arlene Havluck, Holly Bokorney, Barbara Halvorson and Mona Lindholm are entered in the competition for the title of Timbertennial Queen XII.
Edward Thompson was installed as sentinel for 1968-69 for Star of the North Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Tom Johnson was installing marshal and Mrs. Elvin Foss, installing officer.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scheela and Jim, 824 Second St., have returned from a 7,000-mile vacation in the south and on the west coast. At Phoenix, Ariz., they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Art Enzmann, former Falls resident.
MacNeil Chapter, Order of DeMolay, will confer both the initiatory and DeMolay degrees on two candidates beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Masonic Temple. The candidates are Don Oliverson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Oliverson, and Todd Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Williams.

50 YEARS AGO
Mrs. Rosa White, Baudette, arrived Sunday with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Chet White, Carp, to make her home here with her daughter, Mrs. Sadie Steele.
Election of officers was a highlight of last night’s City Association bowling banquet in Community Auditorium. The new slate consists of Bill Karlstad, president; H. (Pete)) Couture, secretary; Duncan Rostie, first vice president; Rube Julien, second vice president; Bud Franklin, treasurer.
Mrs. C.W. Speelman was recently honored for serving on the International Falls Library for a period of 41 years. She was presented a gift in recognition of this service, which is the longest continuous service on a range library board.
Robert Myers, who has been a Mando research chemist in base products since 1954, has accepted a position as supervisor of quality and development with National Gypsum, Mobile, Ala. He left Thursday morning by car to accept his new position.

60 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Braaten, 1305 First Ave., Carson Lupie, announce the birth of a son today in Northern Minnesota Hospital.
Bobbette Fay is the name chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Himes of Ray for their daughter born recently in the Littlefork Hospital. The baby weighed nine pounds, 11 ounces.
Mrs. Harvey Long, Loman Route, was honored at a stork shower Monday evening. The party, arranged by Mrs. Mike Cullen and Mrs. George Brantal, was in the Papermakers Colony Community Hall.
