Born to Jill and Tony Tilander at Falls Memorial Hospital yesterday was a son, Ralph Carl Tilander, weighing 8 pounds, 15.4 ounces and measuring 21 inches.
The new pastor of First Baptist Church in International Falls, Shane Belding, began his ministry here Oct. 24.

25 YEARS AGO
Airman Marlene A. Harder, daughter of Donald A. and Ila J. Harder, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force administrative specialist course at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss.
Spec. 4 Jeffry E. Jessop, son of James E. and Jessie R. Jessop, has been decorated with the U.S. Army Commendation Medal at Fort Hood, Texas.

40 YEARS AGO
The newest piece of equipment in the Falls police department — a Breathalyzor for testing suspected drunken drivers — is ready now and waiting for its non-practice first use. The Breathalyzor cost $850 said Police Chief Richard Ellison and the Federal Highway Safety Act paid for half of it.
James Pagedas, 75, has made a miraculous recovery from a severe tetanus infection from which only five percent usually survive.
Several couples helped Einar Frykman, Sunset Cove, celebrate his birthday at a potluck dinner, as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Wagness.
Robert Staples of Ray shot a 240-pound buck at 8:50 opening morning. Staples used only one shot to bring the prize down.

50 YEARS AGO
A son was born today in Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Miller, Riverside Trailer Court, 7 pounds, 11 ounces, Russel Scott.
Mrs. Harry Geving was guest of honor at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Mary Roche. Mrs. Roche is a sister of Mrs. Geving.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Pelland and family and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Belanger and family helped Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pelland celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary recently. Granddaughter Virginia made the anniversary cake for the occasion.
The whistle of a train led Lonnie Stock, 16, Island View Route, out of the woods to safety Saturday night after he became lost while deer hunting.

60 YEARS AGO
A son was born today in Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Mark McBride, South International Falls, 8 pounds, 6 ounces.
M.F. Keyes left Friday for Minneapolis, where he took a plane for Los Angeles. Mr. Keyes will join his family in Los Angeles and will spend the winter there.
Mrs. Adolph Hilke, Ranier, left Thursday with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Nelson for Polson, Mont. Mrs. Hilke will spend the winter there at the Nelson home.
Mrs. Donald Frakes was elected noble grand of Rebekah Lodge Thursday night in Odd Fellows Hall. She succeeds Mrs. Virgil Christensen.
