Born to Tom and Donna Belanger today was a son, Nathan Thomas Belanger, weighing 7 pounds, 15.8 ounces and measuring 21 inches.
International Falls students Tamara Bowman, Leah Pearson, Nicci Wood and Kellie Milender are taking part in Bemidji State University’s student teaching program for fall semester.

Stan Bielec, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chet Bielec, attended a three-day Professional Development Conference in Duluth. Bielec is a student in the Marketing and Sales Management program at the Alexandria Vocational-Technical Institute.
Melanie Sweney, daughter of Robert and Linda Sweney, was given the Awana Chum of the Month Award for her faithfulness in club attendance and scripture memorization.

World War I, once called “The war to end war,” ended in an armistice 50 years ago today. When the shooting stopped there lay dead, by U.S. War Department count, more than 8.5 million soldiers, including 125,000 Americans.
Dale Johnson of International Falls is a member of the Harvard Varsity B football team which plays its next game Saturday at Princeton.
A baby shower was given to honor Mrs. Ronald Erickson at the Ray School recently.
Pfc. Gary Wood of Fort Carson, Colo., is home visiting his mother, Mrs. Adeline Wood, 329 Sixth St., recuperating from foot surgery. He injured his foot while playing hockey with the Army team at Dayton, Ohio, last year.

1. Mrs. Wayne Gordon and infant son were honored at a pink and blue shower Sunday afternoon at the Fred McEldowney residence, South International Falls.
Mrs. Howard Wallen, South International Falls, was honored at a pink and blue shower Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Henry Peters, 319 Sixth St.
The Eat, Chat and Sew Club met Nov. 3 at the home of Mrs. Oral Howland, Island View Route. The get-acquainted party held Oct. 25 was discussed.
Ray Nelson, 1005 Second St., underwent an emergency appendectomy Friday evening in Falls Memorial Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Buchholz, 908 11th St., are the parents of a son born today at Falls Memorial Hospital. The boy weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces.
A girl was born today to Mr. and Mrs. Orville Chester, International Falls. She weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces.
Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hanson, Loman Route, have named their son, who was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital, Michael Lee. He weighed 8 pounds, 14 1/2 ounces.
A 10-pound, 3-ounce boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Nelson, 206 Sixth Ave.
