Maintenance Supervisor Curtis Ysen has retired after 43 years service with Boise Cascade. Ysen reported to work at the mill for the first time in October 1955, shortly after graduating from Falls High School.

Shermoen and LeDuc Law Office is pleased to announce that John D. Undem has joined the firm as an associate.
The International Falls City Council has taken a step towards invigorating the economy of Borderland by requesting a meeting on economic development with county officials. And, following a suggestion by Mayor Bob Anderson, the council also unanimously approved seeking information on setting up a free-trade zone in the Falls, an action that would require congressional approval.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Howard.

Border City’s six-man snow removal crew put in a 12-hour day Monday and were out again at 4 a.m. yesterday coping with the eight inches of white stuff besetting pedestrians and motorists alike.

A/3c Roger Crawford, Loman, is stationed at the Air Force Base at Minot, N.D., where he will take a 14-week special training course for Air Police.
Pat Barber, senior student at Bemidji State College, will be one of 10 students taking part in a debate class exercise held Friday at Moorhead State College.
Mrs. Don Duerr’s Brownie troop met for the first time on Wednesday after school at her home. They elected the following officers: Pamela Duerr, president; Janice Ludwig, treasurer; and Susan Savard, scribe.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Donald O’Leary, Gateway Cabins, 9 pounds, 1/2 ounce, Marty Ray.

Miss June Rustin was feted at a pre-nuptial shower. Hostesses were Mrs. John Prozinski, Mrs. Milton Olson and Miss Betty Sullivan.
Girl Scout Troop 18 elected officers during its first meeting Wednesday in the high school scout room. Shirley St. Pierre was elected president; Shirley Belanger, vice president and scribe; Phyllis Glowack, secretary; and Helen Foyt, treasurer. Miss Sylvia Alich is the club leader.
Three brothers were heading a search today for the body of another brother, who, with a hunting companion, is believed to have drowned Oct. 29 in Lake Kabetogama. The three brothers are Sig, Bert and Paul Bergstedt who are supervising five boatloads of volunteers patrolling Lake Kabetogama. They hope that the bodies of George Bergstedt, 31, and Walter Thompson, 67, have come to the surface.
A quintet of Falls bowlers are leaving for the Range tomorrow to test their 10-pin skill in sweepstakes tournaments in Hibbing and Virginia. The team is composed of Tony Rizzo, John O’Brien, Alex Katrin, Merlin Holm and Gene Gallagher.
