International Falls radio stations KGHS and KSDM have been sold. New owners are Alan and Linda Quarnstrom. LuVerne Walter, president of Communications International Associates Inc. and general manager of the stations, said she had decided she wanted more free time and to spend her winters in a warmer climate than the Nation’s Icebox.
The International Falls School Board recently hired Donna Belanger as elementary music teacher.

Navy Seaman Recruit Donald D. Schmidt Jr., son of Donald D. and Arkely Schmidt, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

Fifteen-year-old Mark Hutchings was found at 11:50 a.m. by the Koochiching County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Unit. He spent the night in the woods after becoming disoriented while partridge hunting.
Attorneys Marvin W. Mitchell Jr. and Jerome W. Shermoen have announced their association for the practice of law at the offices of Attorney Mitchell, 315 Fourth Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Paul Jr. are now making their home in Littlefork following a wedding trip to the North Shore.
Bob Pullar was the leading runnerup for the Bronco cross-country team at the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes cross-country meet and came in seventh, followed by Dan Magner in 13th, Mike Carpenter in 16th, Shawn Sheehy 26th and Bruce Stavseth 30th.

Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Fiedler, Littlefork, were honored at a reception on Sunday afternoon at the Richard Hardwig home on their 25th wedding anniversary.
Michael L. Schmidt, electrician’s mate fireman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Schmidt of Island View Route, is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Hancock operating with the U.S. Seventh Fleet in the Western Pacific.
Three members of the Carl Harrison family arrived by plane from Eustis, Fla., to assist with funeral arrangements for Mr. Harrison, 65, retired Falls druggist, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home about 10 a.m. today.
Dr. Richard L. Dobbs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Dobbs, 511 Seventh St., Monday will complete his Mayo Fellowship course, begun July 1956, as an otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat surgeon).

A daughter was born today to Mr. and Mrs. Dan Arnold.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Covel, 714 Fifth Ave., became parents of a son born today at Falls Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces. The same day Mr. and Mrs. Edward Craite, Ray, became parents of a daughter. She weighed 6 pounds, 6 1/2 ounces.
Miss Jessie Shaw, local girl well-known for her musical ability, announced today that she has opened a music studio at 308 Fifth Ave. She will teach piano, voice and accordion.
