An International Falls man won $5,000 playing the Lottery’s Powerball game. Matthew Kolesky, who bought the winning ticket at Inter City Oil in International Falls, claimed his prize Friday.

Robert Bradley and Holger A. Johnson, Insulite employees, and Emil I. Larson, paper mill rigger, officially retired this month after long service to Boise Cascade and Mando.
Cpl. Bruce C. Anderson, U.S. Marine Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond V. Anderson, has returned to active duty at Dong Ha, South Vietnam, following a 30-day leave in Sydney, Australia.
Terry McMiken, son of Fire Chief and Mrs. Vernon McMiken, left for Grand Forks, N.D., to participate in Freshman Week activities at the University of North Dakota where he is enrolled.
PFC David H. Gawtry, U.S. Army, sent word of his arrival in South Vietnam Sept. 7. He was assigned to the 25th Medical Battalion of the 25th Infantry Division and will be on duty near Tay Ninh.

Mr. and Mrs. William Darlington will be honored Friday evening at the family potluck dinner at Calvary Methodist Church parlors. They will be leaving soon to make their home in Minneapolis.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Vertina, 1112 11th Ave., 8 pounds, 4 1/2 ounces.
Pupils in Room Nine, Holler School, entertained their mothers at a coffee party Friday afternoon. Judith Veeder, who has been student teaching in the room under the supervision of Mrs. Clarence Nordlum, assisted Mrs. Nordlum with plans and arrangements.
Janet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kopp, 810 10th St., has enrolled as a freshman at the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth.

Mrs. Art Sexton of Point O’Pines was honored at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Russell Swenson, Riverside Drive, Ranier. Mrs. Ed Langton was co-hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. George Dilworth Jr. are parents of a girl born today at Littlefork Hospital. The child weighed 7 1/2 pounds.
Mrs. Ann Laidlaw, defeated Mrs. Bernice Bateman 4 and 2 to capture the women’s championship of the Falls Golf Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Sabotta of this city are receiving congratulations on the birth of a son born today in Falls Memorial Hospital. The baby has been named Gary Wayne.
