Dick Holmestad of West End Apco recently earned a trip to Las Vegas because of his superior effort in selling and servicing Wheel Horse lawn and garden tractors and equipment.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bergstrom of Loman announce the arrival of their fourth son, Bill Oscar, who was born today in Falls Memorial Hospital.
A daughter was born today in Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William Morin.
50 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Frick, Papermakers Colony, have been enjoying the visit of his mother, Mrs. Birdie Smith and her daughter, Judy Reeves and a friend of Judy’s, Barbara Beaver, all of LaCrosse, Wash., and many other family members. This is the first time in 33 years that all 33 of the Fricks have been together for a family reunion.
Mrs. Pat Berryman was honored at a pink and blue shower at the home of Mrs. Fao Toninato, 800 14th Ave.
Opening of the Falls’ newest business institutions, Parkway Restaurant and Parkway Pure Service, located on Highway 11-71 at the west end of town, will be held on or about Sept. 15, according to E.H. and Don Le Duc, owners. Gary Readman will manage the new service station, and the restaurant will be operated by Mrs. Blanche Berryman.
Mrs. Anna LaValley was feted at a birthday luncheon in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Max Goulet, 418 Seventh St.
60 YEARS AGO
Women employees of Minnesota and Ontario Paper Company entertained at a dinner party in honor of Mrs. Charles Houska, a recent bride, and Miss Helen Thydean, who left Mando employment the last of August. The affair was at the Elite Cafe.
The William Bacon home, South International Falls, was the scene of a family reunion, the first one to be conducted since before World War II. Guests from this vicinity were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hargan and son, Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bacon and daughter, Carolyn, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bacon and daughters, Diana and Arlene and Walter and Carl Bacon.
Mrs. Walter Lindvall, Littlefork, is at home today recovering from an operation to correct an arm injury suffered in a freak accident. Mrs. Lindvall injured her arm when she fell up — not down the rear outside steps of her home. She is the wife of the county assessor.
Miss Marjorie Bruggeman, daughter of B.L. Bruggeman, 807 Fifth St., left for Winnipeg to enroll in a three-year nursing program at Misercordes Hospital.
