The International Falls School Board recently approved the resignations of Maggie McBride as in-school suspension supervisor at Falls High School, George McDonald as head boys’ track coach, and Angela R. LaVigne as a Backpack Junction aide.
Friends and relatives are invited to come and meet Cooper James Grashorn at an open house Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. at his grandparents, Ron and Ruby Simon, 816 Ninth St.

The children of Harold and Gladys Indahl cordially invite all friends and relatives to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sept. 16 at an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Littlefork Apartments.
Friends and relatives gathered at the Holiday Inn to honor Howard Carpenter at a surprise retirement party. A long-time Falls resident, Carpenter worked as a state electrical inspector for 24 years.
40 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin A. Norton will be honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday in their home on 13th Street.
Susan H. Walkoviak, U.S. Women’s Marine Corps, was promoted to Private First Class recently. She will graduate from Marine Computer Science School, Quantico, Va., this month and will be stationed in Barstow, Calif. She is a 1960 Falls High School graduate.
Mrs. Bruno LaVigne, 312 Sixth St., has received word that her son, Larry Reichel, Minneapolis, was playing touch football Sunday afternoon, slipped and fell on the grass and suffered a broken leg below the kneecap.
Delano D. Skeim, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Skeim, graduated from the Reisch American School of Auctioneering of Mason City, Iowa, recently.Skeim is a 1958 graduate of Falls High School.
50 YEARS AGO
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Amerud, 1215 Sixth St., 7 pounds, 11 1/2 ounces.
Debra Ann Bath, 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bath, South International Falls, has been released from St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, following a slight case of polio.
Ketola’s won the fourth-grade recreation baseball championship. Team members are Larry Grill, Terry Hartje, Jeff Brown, Charles Lessard, Ron Wright, George Fraik, Robert Riddich and Bruce Knudson.
Sisters, Mrs. Clair Hall, French Addition, and Mrs. Henry Urban, 401 Ninth St., both gave birth to babies in a 10-hour period. Mrs. Hall’s son arrived at 9 p.m. yesterday at the LaVerendrye Hospital. The youngster weighed 6 pounds and 15 ounces. Mrs. Urban welcomed a daughter at 7 a.m. today at the Falls Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed 6 pounds and 4 ounces.

Announcement of a new subdivision of South International Falls today featured the 30th birthday observance of the C.V. Linsten Real Estate Agency. The new Linsten plat is Green Acres. It lies east of Fifth Avenue East and is bounded on the north by Second Avenue North, the former street-car line right-of-way.
Notice — Falls Auto Parts Company and State of Minnesota Motor Vehicle Department moved to 426 Third St. (Corrin building).
Some 2,500 Koochiching County veterans will begin signing up Oct. 1 for their share of the state's $82,000,000 servicemen’s bonus. Total payments to the county’s ex-GIs — based on an average bonus of $250 — is expected to be some $625,000.
Miss Harriet Lloyd left today for Albert Lea following a two-week vacation with her mother, Mrs. J.J. Lloyd, Ketola Apartments. Miss Lloyd is executive director of Girl Scout activities in a three-county area with headquarters in Albert Lea.
