The International Falls Fire Department responded to a fire at 302 22nd St. Wednesday afternoon. A mattress in a townhouse caught fire, according to the fire department. The firefighters were at the scene for an hour and half. STAFF PHOTO BY LISA KACZKE

There were not enough awards for the amount of H.O.T. talent at Backus Auditorium Friday evening. Doug Piekarski took home Best Audience Response award for “Pretty Vegas.” Above, John Streiff sang “Suspicious Minds” as Elvis. Third place winner Brittany Hayes sang “Only One.” Ward Merrill, of Citizens for Backus, said this was the fullest he’s seen the auditorium.
