A few bigger northern pike have been taken on minnows and crankbaits in Lost Bay and near Cranberry Island. Black Bay is still giving up a few crappies.

Main-lake bars like Moses, Moxes Hole, the Snaghole, and Sugar Bar humps are giving up walleyes in 18 to 22 feet, mainly on rigs and leeches. Look for perch off Raven’s Flats in 12 to 14 feet or on the 16- to 18-foot rock piles and humps.

Lake Saganaga is producing walleyes in 35 to 40 feet and Crescent Lake is worth checking for muskies. Spoons and crankbaits are producing pike at Northern Lights Lake and Saganaga. Downrigging about 90 feet down has been best for salmon on Lake Superior.

GRAND RAPIDS AREA Walleye action has picked up on the weedlines of Swan Lake, in 20 to 25 feet at Trout Lake, the 18- to 24-foot humps of Bowstring Lake, in 14 to 17 feet at Sand Lake, and in 25 to 32 feet at Sugar Lake. LAKE VERMILION
The best muskie activity is taking place during low-light periods or after dark with hair baits and topwaters on the rocks and weeds. Walleyes are hitting leeches and live-bait rigs in 14 to 18 feet. Look for sunfish to be in the weeds of Larson Bay, Indian Bay, and Muskego Bay.

RED WING AREA
Trolling Rapalas in the Maiden Rock Flats area of Lake Pepin has provided steady walleye action in 15 to 18 feet. Crappies are hitting tubes in the back channel area and Bay City rocks. Sucker minnows are turning pike in the Rush River area, while smallmouths are found along the wing dams near Wabasha.

ST. CLOUD/EDEN VALLEY AREA
Look for sunfish in five to 13 feet on lakes such as Becker, Long, Cedar Island, Rice, and Pearl. Walleye action is limited, but northern pike are hitting sucker minnows on the weedlines of Horseshoe Lake, Lake Koronis, Browns Lake, Rice, and Long. Bass remain active in the weeds of most lakes. Crawlers and minnows are producing numbers of catfish on the Sauk River.
