An International Falls man was arrested Wednesday on possible charges of felony theft or burglary following a year-long investigation by the Koochiching County Sheriff’s Office.
Timothy E. Steinbach, 47, of International Falls, was arrested by International Falls police Wednesday while Koochiching County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant on land Steinbach owned at 8548 County Road 32, Loman, at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Steinbach was expected to be arraigned Thursday afternoon or Friday in Koochiching County District Court on possible charges of felony theft or burglary, according to Koochiching County Undersheriff Brian Jespersen.
Deputies recovered more than 100 items from an abandoned trailer house on the property in Loman, according to Jespersen. The estimated value of the items is $20,000.
Conservation officers with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted in the execution of the search warrant, which was executed after information was received by a sheriff’s deputy.
Deputies were at the Loman property searching and completing an inventory of the items recovered until 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Among the items recovered were metal beams, trailers, chain saws, an outboard motor, a riding lawn mower, a push mower, weed trimmers, air compressors and many hand drills and saws, according to Jespersen.
Jespersen asks that anyone who has reported a theft of an item in the past year to contact him at the Law Enforcement Center at 283-1145. Those that have had items taken can schedule an appointment for Oct. 2 with Jespersen to recover the items. Residents either need to have reported to law enforcement that the item was missing, or if it wasn’t reported, they need to have proof of ownership, such as a serial number, Jespersen said.
